What's the best local model for an 8GB VRAM card right now?

I've got an 8GB card and want to run something decent locally for coding help. Ollama or LM Studio? Any model recommendations from this directory?

ComfyUI vs Automatic1111 for someone just starting with image generation?

Setting up local Stable Diffusion for the first time. Is the node-based ComfyUI workflow worth the learning curve over a simpler UI?

Is it worth paying for API access vs using the free web chat tiers?

For light personal projects, does the paid API actually get you meaningfully better answers, or is it mostly about rate limits and integration?

How accurate are the hardware spec estimates on the model pages?

Are the VRAM/RAM numbers here based on the default quantization, or the full-precision weights? Would help to know before I try to run something.

Cool that this site uses an AI moderator -- how transparent is it?

Curious whether flagged posts show the reason to the author, or if it's a black box. Full disclosure feels important for trust in community moderation.
